My mixed media work is often inspired by current events and the global issues affecting us; socially, politically, culturally, and environmentally. As in my artist's books, I prefer to use organic materials— a variety of papers, fabric, beads and found objects.

 

I generally don’t set out with a specific idea or theme in mind. Rather, each piece seems to metamorphose as I work. I try to have each canvas pose questions, ask viewers to look deeper into the images beyond the obvious, revealing the underlying layers and details. In this way I hope each of my works tells a story and expresses my concerns for all of us and our planet.
